This modification is for 18 Wheels of Steel: Haulin' and contains a 2005
Freightliner Columbia moving van body straight truck. The truck featires
3 paint schemes in addition to the colour picker. A fully functional custom
interior is also provided, which features an accurate hood model and mirrors,
as well as realistic textures. The truck also has LED rear lights and
realistic engine sounds, courtesy of 3dartpol, peteman, SCS, and an unknown
author. The rear doors on this model can also be opened by pressing "T", and
a cargo will be visible along with a handcart and an extended ramp. This is
achieved by buying the special trailer which is supplied with the download.
HOW TO USE TRAILER FOR OPENING REAR DOORS:
1. Buy the Freightliner Columbia box van and choose the colour scheme.
2. Buy the Freightliner Columbia box van trailer in the appropriate colour
scheme.
3. Transport both the truck and the trailer to a parking lot near your location,
or drive to your garage. First, select the truck and select the "change truck"
button. Close the notebook. Next, open the notebook again, select the trailer,
and select the "take trailer" button. When you close the notebook, you will
notice that your truck has shut rear doors. If you want to open them, you must
apply the parking brake, and press "T". You can fool the system by releasing the
parking brake and driving away from your trailer, so that's why it's a good idea
to apply the parking brake while your trailer is detached, so you don't
accidentally drive away from it. With your rear doors now open, you can use the
debug camera "0" to explore inside the back of the
truck.
NOTE***
When you save your game with the freightliner straight truck, you will need to
follow a special procedure for it to load properly. You can not simply start the
program and load your saved game, because for some bizzare reason, the doors will
not fit on the truck properly. In order to load your saved game you must:
1. Start 18 WoS Haulin
2. Start a new campaign game
3. Enter "cheat money"
4. Buy the freightliner truck, and buy the trailer
5. Advance time by 24 hours
6. Close the notebook and enter the garage
7. Click on "change truck"
8. Close the garage, and hit enter to reopen it
9. Click on "take trailer"
10. Open the console and type in "exit"
11. Load your saved game. The doors will now fit. This is a bizzare procedure
but it must be done, or else the doors will NOT fit when you load your game.
NOTE2***
When in an outside view perspective, the trailer doors might appear to handle
slightly differently then the truck itself, when taking corners, etc. This
cannot be fixed to my knowledge. Please understand that the truck was meant to
be driven from the interior view, and only viewed from the outside when stopped.
However, it will still function very well from the outside perspective too.
